The history of WordPress

The WordPress system was developed as an open source project in 2003 by Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little. It was based on an earlier blogging platform called b2/cafelog and quickly became a popular web development tool. Over time, WordPress has gone through many updates and versions, adding more and more features and becoming one of the most popular CMSs in the world.

WordPress.com and WordPress.org — what’s the difference?

You may notice that WordPress has two different sites in the .org and .com domain zones. How are they different?

WordPress.com — is a hosting service for WordPress websites. WordPress.com offers a free plan with limitations (ad inserts on sites, payment fees and no domain) and paid plans without ads with improved options.

WordPress.org — is for free WordPress installation. You can choose between a self-installation or a simplified installation on the hosting of the chosen provider. In addition to WordPress itself, you can install modules and plugins for it on the site.

If you have a server with an ispmanager panel, setting up WordPress is a matter of minutes. This video shows you how this can be done.
